Bewdley at last saw the first win of the season after a gutsy performance against Clee Hill 2nds. This friendly saw the return of some old friends to the team to bolster the numbers.
Bewdley started the game started briskly with both teams playing expansive wide games. Clee Hill found it difficult going against a confident looking Bewdley who had large amounts of the
possession. This possession lead to some excellent chances but neither team could break down the staunch defensive lines.
Bewdley's pack had a good day and gave excellent ball to the backs that in turn showed their skills despite the undulating and sloping pitch.
Bewdley broke the deadlock late in the first half when a ball was won by the Bewdley pack and the in form Steve Freeman once again showed his tremendous skills to score.
The second half saw Clee Hill playing down the slope, which lead to Bewdley being pegged back for the first ten minutes. Clee Hill levelled the score with a penalty driven through the
defence from five yards out.
Bewdley kept their concentration to quickly fire back. Both the freeman brothers in the centres, using good angles, and James Partridge on the wing were excelling. Freeman scored his second
try a mazy 30 yard run. After a spell of to and fro possession Freeman capped a good phase by scoring his third try and claiming his hat trick after good work from the forwards on the 5 metre line.
Towards the end of the game Clee hill came back but Bewdley were not going to be denied, not this time.
