This was the last game of the season for both teams. Both teams were also quite depleted with only 10 players each. However it was a very good, enjoyable and balanced game.
Bewdley kicked off and held play in the clee hill half a forwards drive allowed hooker Dave Hall to come inches from the line. Play was restarted with a scrum to Bewdley. Bewdley won the ball and scrum
half Rory Meehan took the ball around the blind side to score. Julian Evans missed the conversion. Clee hill replied with a try only a few minutes later. Their conversion was also missed. Bewdley fought on and soon
after Christian Ellis crossed the line only to be called back for a Clee Hill penalty for jumping out of a tackle. Bewdley took the ball from a wayward line out and acting captain Alan Banks took the ball under the
posts for a try. Julian Evans made the conversion. Clee Hill responded quickly with another try to make it 12-10 to Bewdley.
A quick restart took play deep in to the Clee Hill half to allow Alan Banks to take the ball over for his second try of the game. This was converted by Julian Evans. to take the score to 19-10 in Bewdley's
favour. Yet again Clee Hill responded quickly with a converted try to take the score to 19-17 at the break.
In the second half Clee Hill opened the scoring with a converted try to take the lead at 19-24. Bewdley's heads started to drop a little but a snaking run from centre John Conte from the half way line to
score by the posts and converted by Julian Evans raised their spirits. This took Bewdley back to a two point lead at 26-24. Bewdley were dominant in the scrum and line out but the loss of Bewdley scrum half Rory
Meehan and some good running from Clee Hill allowed them to score another converted try to retake the lead at 26-31.
Scott Bould stepped up to take Rory's place to restabilise the Bewdley team. A good ball from a scrum allowed Fly Half Martin Saunders to dart in under the posts. This was again converted by Julian Evans.
This took Bewdley back to a 33-31 lead. Again good running from Clee Hill allowed them to take back the lead with an unconverted try with around 10 minutes to play.
Knowing the game could still go either way both teams stepped up the aggression with some hard tackling and running. A run from fly half Martin Saunders tied up several Clee Hill players in a ruck but a
penalty was given. This was taken quickly by Scott Bould to Pass to Julian Evans to allow him to score his first ever try. He missed the conversion however.
With only time for one more play the Clee Hill restart kicked the ball in to Bewdley's in goal. A foot race for the ball took Scott Bould to Kill the ball to trigger the final whistle.
