Bewdley fielded an experimental line up against a combined Clee Hill and Cleobury side. Both teams started well but Bewdley were pinned in their own 22m for the first quarter of the game
but Clee could not find a path through. Eventually the visitors did find a way past, but Bewdley hit back from good running to earn them selves a penalty in the opposition 22m. It was taken by Darren Hughes who got
over for the try, with the conversion going wide.
Bewdley showed that they can play good rugby and were never outclassed in any part of the game. Another try was collected for the visitors and very late in the half another try came.
After the turn around Clee hit back straight away in the first seconds of the half, Bewdley regulars feared the worst but this is a different Bewdley. An up and under got Bewdley in to the
22m and when a penalty was awarded scrum half Stuart Bell made no mistake. It was all Bewdley for the next 20 minutes. Quick ball from a scrum gave Bewdley another penalty close to the line, prop Alec Wright drove
over from 10 metres. Bewdley took the lead when a pick up and go from the Alan Banks at number 8 gave the Bewdley backs good ball and Clee were penalised for holding on. Stuart Bell stepped up and took the try
with the conversion being made. Bewdley were leading with 10 minutes to go but fitness told in the end and 4 tries with no reply from Clee meant victory to the visitors.
Bewdley can take heart from this in to next year.
