Bewdley welcomed back old friends for this friendly against Kings Norton 3rd's. Both teams started well with both sets of backs exchanging big hits. Then it was the turn
of Bewdley's front row to stamp their authority on the game with both Darren Hughes and Tony Banks holding the front row well. In the loose Bewdley had the beating of the Kings Norton backs but could not get
an opening.
Barn storming runs by Darren Hughes and Julian Evans showed that Bewdley's front three should be a force to be reckoned with but both teams kept the other out. It was Kings Norton who
scored first from lax defending and the conversion sailed wide. Once again Bewdley's possession did not count for much as Kings Norton scored again.
Bewdley hit back with a good try from a forwards driving maul and Lloyd James got the extra two points. In the second half both teams cancelled each other out but only very good tackling
from debutante wing James Partridge kept Kings Norton out. But eventually the pressure told and Kings Norton scored again. Darren Hughes was unlucky again shortly after, a drop from a kick saw him kick through and
beat the fullback only to get tapped at the last minute. This shows that Bewdley can compete and given a chance they might just cause an upset this year but only time will tell.
